Shropshire’s new community radio station is staging an out-of-this-world night-to-remember to launch a spectacular Charity Space Odyssey video.

INTune Radio teamed up with 33 county charities on an amazing three-hour balloon flight into space to launch the new station and promote the fantastic work of the charity sector.

Now it is staging a premiere of the stunning video of the space flight at a special event at St Mary’s Church in Shrewsbury on December 1.

INTune founder Wayne Flynn said the invite-only event would bring together up to 300 leading business and community leaders alongside INTune and charity volunteers, for a night of celebration.

The free event would also help raise funds for the Lingen Davies cancer charity and the station would also make a donation to the St Mary’s Stained Glass Repair Appeal.

Wayne said: “Our space launch took place earlier this year and saw our balloon soar 100,000ft above the Earth to capture some simply incredible video from the edge of space. We took 33 charity partners with us on the voyage to help raise their profile and showcase the work they do.

“The St Mary’s event will see the official premiere of our Charity Space Odyssey video as well as giving guests the chance to meet some of the team behind INTune, find out just what we do and how we can help their business or charity reach a brand-new audience.

“We’ll have live music from the Shrewsbury Rock Choir, street food and drink, a guest appearance by INTune radio mascot DJ Schnauzer and the chance to meet and network with fellow guests.

“It’s going to be a fantastic night to remember and is a real milestone for INTune as we continue to grow and serve every area of this fabulous county.”

Wayne said INTune – which is staffed by volunteers – was now broadcasting a full daily schedule and increasing its audience every month.

“INTune is the new commercial radio station covering the whole of Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin with a mission to support local business, charities, and communities.

“We work with local charities and communities to help raise their profile, along with local businesses who have a product, service or event to sell. Radio advertising is now within reach for many businesses who can also benefit from our unique integrated digital marketing approach.”

INTune worked with specialist brand and marketing company Sent into Space to organise the flight earlier in the Autumn.
