INTune Radio is a community radio Community Interest Company serving Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. Our aim is to give local people, charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, musicians and socially responsible businesses an accessible platform through which they can share information, experiences and opportunities.

Supported by more than 30 volunteers, including people with special educational needs and disabilities, we produce inclusive radio content that connects communities, increases awareness of local support and enables people who may be underrepresented in mainstream media to have their voices heard. More than 200 local charities, community groups and bands have used our platform.

Our programming is available through digital listening platforms and catch-up services, helping us reach people across a large and partly rural county. We also use social media to extend the reach of broadcasts, encourage participation and direct listeners to relevant services and activities.

We work collaboratively with residents, schools, charities, public services and businesses to develop programmes that respond to local needs. Radio is our central engagement tool: it allows people to contribute in a way that is flexible, accessible and less intimidating than many formal settings. Content can be delivered live, pre-recorded or on demand.

Our objectives are to strengthen community connections, reduce barriers to participation, promote equality and inclusion, improve access to trusted local information, and help people take positive action in their own lives and communities. We recognise each person’s potential and seek to operate with aspiration, teamwork, courage, respect, service, integrity and perseverance.

Directors

• Wayne Flynn, founded INTune Radio CIC in lockdown and developed it as a side project in his spare room until in 2023 when he secured our studio in Shrewsbury’s Darwin Shopping Centre. He is passionate about developing skills and confidence in everyone, most especially in young people having worked on many innovative youth projects as a designer. His 30+ years as an award wining designer means he can often be seen crafting the next project, talking about brand voice, collaborating, and implementing innovative training techniques.
• Sofia Lewis, volunteered at INTune Radio CIC in 2025. She has experienced radio as a presenter for BBC Radio Shropshire in the 70s and she brings all that experience into INTune Radio where her particualr focus is show quality. Being an active transexual poet, commentator, writer and reviewer she is well versed in applying that human edge to anything that passes through. She’s so incredibly passionate about Shrewsbury, Shropshire and giving everybody a voice in our communities – when she’s not writing or broadcasting she’ll be on a local stage singing Folk music.
• David Ripley, volunteered at INTune Radio in early 2026. He quickly became an invaluable member of the team, organising our policies and procedures with a particular focus on tech – helping to make things work and implementing strategies to assist in developing the station. David has a teaching in theatre and production background and so understands what we need to implement and when to ensure smooth studio operations, professionalism and inclusivity.
