The Rap Factor Winners
Has Your School Got The Rap Factor?
As part of our new walk-in broadcasting studio opening in Shrewsbury’s Darwin Shopping Centre, we’re running a competition searching for the Greatest Primary School Rap in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
It’s called ‘The Rap Factor’, the theme is ‘Being kind’ and you can get involved today. It will be brilliant fun and your school’s finished rap will also tick some big boxes on the school curriculum. How about that?! Even our mascot DJ Schnauzer is getting his rap act on!
**REGISTER YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL BY WEDNESDAY 30TH OCTOBER BY USING THE SIMPLE FORM BELOW**
The Rap Factor is Educational Fun!
This is a competition that focuses on fun – that is Job No.1.
But it also ticks some school curriculum boxes – specifically for the PSHE Curriculum.
In your school’s rap, if you can reflect the values of your school this would assist with English Curriculum KS2 it’s in line with relevant expectations and can be included as an exercise that can be graded. How cool is that!
English Curriculum links KS2:
- Aims – write clearly, accurately, and coherently, adapting their language and style in and for a range of contexts, purposes and audiences
- Are competent in the arts of speaking and listening, making formal presentations, demonstrating to others and participating in debate
- Spoken Language – Teachers should therefore ensure the continual development of pupils’ confidence and competence in spoken language and listening skills.
- Writing – Effective composition involves articulating and communicating ideas, and then organising them coherently for a reader. This requires clarity, awareness of the audience, purpose and context, and an increasingly wide knowledge of vocabulary and grammar.
The Details:
We’re organising this competition to help inspire young people through learning and collaborating with others – and it’s all been made possible by local business sponsors and our incredible volunteers.
To be in with a chance of winning the Greatest Rap Trophy and an amazing prize bundle for your school – and some serious countywide bragging rights – here’s what’s involved:
- Your student(s) will be writing and recording a rap about their school, school life, it has to be identifiable to your school, and based around the theme of ‘Being kind’!
- Kindness has never been more important; this needs to come through clearly in the rap’s lyrics and how it makes the listener feel.
- Get your school and students in the spotlight and enjoy the moment – make it fun, exciting and inspirational. Why not consider a funky video too?
How the competition will work:
- This competition is open to all primary schools in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
- The rap could feature just one student or your whole school – it’s up to you.
- The rap can be no longer than 3.5 minutes in total length
- There will be an independent judging panel made up of INTune Radio sponsors and volunteers plus some surprise guests along the way.
- All entries will be played on air!
Make your school’s rap fun, make it great – give it your best shot and go to town!
