On the 13th January, a cold and dark Monday, Wayne Flynn, our founder, received the brightest of emails that read:

“In recognition of your great and valuable service to the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin community, The High Sheriff of Shropshire, Jane Trowbridge, is delighted to award you with a High Sheriff’s Award. You are invited to be presented with your award at the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s Award Ceremony on 19th January 2026.”

We were all delighted for the recognition, most certainly for the impact we had with the HIgh Sheriff’s Youth Awareness Day takeover of INTune Radio which engaged over 20,000 local people, and also the pace that our unique School Radio Club is picking up in the county.

The information read aloud at the cermony as Wayne collected his award reads:
“Wayne Flynn is the founder of IN Tune Radio, Shropshire’s only county focused community radio station. Through a volunteer-led platform, he gives voice to communities, charities and young people, promoting inclusion and service. His support of Youth Awareness Day and youth-led broadcasting has had outstanding reach and impact.”

We can’t thank the High Sheriff, Jane Trowbridge enough! Not least because on the night of meeting all the awarded people, it became clear how much work she has done throughout the largest land locked county in the UK, so diverse, beautiful, but not connected as well as it might. And how many indeivudals are piuring their lives into making it a better place for everyone – thank you Jane!
