Enabling Radio Superstars

Joe was a Shrewsbury College student and was placed at INTune Radio on the Enable Supported Internship programme.

Joe has a passion for creative media and has completed qualifications in this area. He expressed an interest in a role where he could have an outlet for his creativity but was anxious about starting a new role and meeting new people.

With the help of Enable, Joe secured a placement at INTune Radio Radio in Shrewsbury.

The role involved feature creation, research, episode production, sourcing interviewees, recording, post-production and social media promotion.

Initially, he was supported by an Enable job coach who supported him into his role and to travel independently to work. Once confident, the support was reduced and Joe felt ready to work and travel independently.

Joe continues to flourish in his role at INTune Radio Radio. He has become an integral part of the team, organising, editing and taking responsibility for his own features for a show, which he has had positive feedback for. He feels he has been given more trust to do work behind the scenes and is allowed to directly upload his work to the platform, which has given him a sense of pride.

Overall, Joe loves being at INTune and the experience it has given him. He has been offered more responsibility with INTune Radio and is excited for what the future holds.
